Quality and safety of Our Silicone beads
Read how Jootjes monitors the quality, safety and traceability of all our baby‑safe products such as silicone beads, wooden beads, clips and materials. This makes our materials suitable for making pacifier cords and teething rings.
Safe materials for your creations
When you make products for babies and young children, you want to be sure you are working with carefully selected and well-documented materials. That is why we pay close attention to the safety, quality, and traceability of our silicone beads, wooden beads, clips, cords, and other components.
We have relevant materials and components independently examined and keep the associated technical documentation. Thus, we can not only say that we value safety, but also substantiate it for the products we deliver.
Please note, if you want to shop anywhere, whether with us or elsewhere, read the supplier's information carefully. Many make big claims but cannot back them up. We can, however, easily show you the evidence without any problem.
What we are known for:
- Independent Tested, on our own title.
- Carefully selected materials, with a mega large Range.
- Traceable via Order and invoice. Purchase statement available.
- Test results available. Tested certified by ISO laboratory (SGS/Eurofins).
- European Wholesaler, designer and importer since 2017
Also important; How do I recognize unreliable safety claims and suppliers?
Professional‑sounding terms are often used for materials for baby products, but they do not demonstrate that a product meets the applicable European safety requirements.
More than just Beautiful materials
Colour, shape and appearance are important, but when it comes to materials for baby products, it’s mainly about what you can’t see on the outside. The composition, origin, and production of a material determine its safety.
That is why we do not select our products solely based on a manufacturer's statement. For the relevant product groups, we have independent studies and accompanying documentation.
What do we mean by Tested and documented?
When we indicate that a material or component has been examined, this means that we have underlying documentation that relates to the products we have had produced and delivered ourselves.
Depending on the product group, it concerns relevant requirements from EN 71, EN 12586 and REACH, as well as additional material‑ or product‑oriented investigations in line with the European directives and GPSR.
Our documentation applies exclusively to our products
Every importer or supplier must be able to demonstrate for its own products that the applicable European obligations have been met. Our investigations, declarations and test summaries apply exclusively to products that can be demonstrably shown to have been purchased from Jootjes Haakcadeautjes / LittleJo B.V. and that fall within the scope of the relevant documentation. Products from another supplier are not covered by our investigations. This also applies when these products look identical on the outside.
Our materials do not come from AliExpress, Alibaba, Shein, Amazon, Temu or other marketplaces, and cannot be compared to them. We deliberately buy directly from the factories, with which we have had a trading relationship for several years and therefore know exactly who we are dealing with.
When you purchase materials through one of the previously mentioned marketplaces, you never meet the European regulations because they provide no certifications that you are required to have. And based on our experience, we know that the certificates they may already be able to show you are never sufficient.
Our research and documentation must not be used for products that are not purchased from us. Unfortunately, we now have to emphasize this more than ever, because in the past there have been instances where our certificates were misused for other sources.
Our documentation is therefore only valid in conjunction with a purchase receipt from us. Also keep your invoices safe. A purchase receipt can also be requested from us. The regulatory authorities are aware of our procedures and know that a purchase receipt is necessary to demonstrate the safety of your products.
Why is an invoice so important?
A test report only has practical evidential value when it can be demonstrably linked to the product that was actually delivered.
Through our invoices, product data and administration we can determine which products a customer has purchased from us. Therefore, the proof of purchase is a necessary part of traceability. As a manufacturer of end products such as a pacifier chain or teething ring you are required to be able to show where you purchased all the products you buy. This is part of the European GPSR (General Product Safety Regulations).
Without demonstrable linkage to a delivery from LittleJo B.V., our documentation may not be used to substantiate the test status, safety, or conformity of a product.
Request documentation after your purchase
If you have purchased our materials for use in your own creations and would like confirmation of the safety of our products, you can request the relevant product‑group documentation from us after your first purchase.
Please include your order or invoice number. We will verify which materials and components you have actually purchased from us and then provide the corresponding statement and available test summaries.
A compact step block:
- You place a Order.
- You request documentation with your order or invoice number.
- We check the purchased product groups.
- You will receive the relevant statement and summaries.
- In the event of an official inspection, we provide additional documentation where necessary.
Why do we initially not provide full reports?
Full laboratory reports contain technical, confidential and commercially sensitive information. Moreover, if these documents are distributed without control, they can be misused for products from other sources.
Therefore, customers initially receive a statement and the relevant test summaries. These can be included in their own technical documentation together with the purchase invoices.
When a competent supervisory authority requests complete underlying reports during an official inspection, we will prepare the necessary dossier for the products actually purchased from us. If desired, it can be shared directly with the supervisory authority.
What do safe components mean for your end product?
Our beads, clips and cords are materials and components. You process them yourself into a complete product, for example a pacifier chain or teething ring.
A safe and inspected component does not automatically make the final product safe. The way you design and assemble the product is also of great importance.
Below that, understandable examples:
- Which parts are you combining?
- How long will the product be?
- How are the parts attached?
- Do the connections Sturdy keep coming loose when pulling and twisting?
- Are the correct warnings present?
- Can you trace which materials you have used?
As a manufacturer or seller, you are personally responsible for the safety and conformity of the complete end product. Our material and component investigations therefore do not replace a mechanical assessment or test of your own end product.
We help you Safe on your way
Product safety can seem complicated, especially when you’re just starting out. That’s why we not only aim to offer safe and well-documented materials, but also provide clear information on making and selling baby accessories.
In our e‑book we explain step by step what you need to consider when making pacifier chains. This way you will not only know which materials you use, but also what responsibility you have as a maker.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are you Silicone beads Tested?
Yes. For our silicone beads we have independent material tests and accompanying technical documentation. The exact scope varies per product group.
Do your products comply with European safety requirements?
Our relevant materials and components have been assessed and examined against the requirements applicable to the relevant product group. We retain the underlying documentation and maintain the link with the products we supply.
Do your tests also apply to comparable Beads from another supplier?
No. Our investigations and documentation apply exclusively to products that can be demonstrably shown to have been purchased from Jootjes Haakcadeautjes / LittleJo B.V. and that fall within the scope of the relevant investigations.
This also applies when products from another supplier look identical or may come from the same factory.
Why do I have to keep my invoices?
Invoices show which products you have purchased from us. They therefore provide the necessary link between the delivered product and our technical documentation.
Can I receive your certificates?
After your first purchase, you can request the relevant statement and test summaries by providing your order or invoice number. Full underlying reports will be made available when a competent authority requires them during an official inspection.
Why don’t I get the full reports immediately?
Full reports contain confidential and commercially sensitive information. In addition, we want to prevent our research from being used for products that have not been purchased from us. During an official inspection, we ensure that the necessary documentation is made available.
May I use your documentation for materials from other suppliers?
No. When you also purchase from other suppliers, you must keep separate documentation from the respective supplier for those materials. Our documentation may only be used for products supplied by LittleJo B.V.
Is my Pacifier chain Safe if I use tested materials?
Tested materials form an important basis, but are not an assessment of the complete pacifier chain. The length, construction, assembly, finish, and mechanical properties of the final product must also meet the applicable requirements.
Do I have to have my homemade final product assessed or tested myself?
As a manufacturer or seller you are responsible for the final product you bring to market. Which assessments or investigations are required depends on the type of product, its design, its application, and the applicable regulations. In addition to the chemical tests we have already arranged for you, pacifier cords must comply with EN 12586. And the best way to prove that your pacifier cords meet this requirement is to have them mechanically tested as well. Teething rings must, in addition to our chemical tests, also comply with EN71-1 and EN71-2. This is also necessary before you can place a CE mark.
I am being checked. What should I do?
Send the regulator’s official request together with your order or invoice numbers to us. We will check which products have been purchased from us and then compile the relevant dossier.
